3.   SONGKOK VENTILATION SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
The idea to invent this product is inspired from the problem of wearing ‘songkok’ for a long period. Normally, after we wear ‘songkok’ for a certain period, the area inside ‘songkok’ becomes humid and hot and this will make the head feel itchy and uncomfortable. Even though the current design of ‘songkok’ has 2, 3 or 4 holes for ventilation, but this is not enough and sometimes the users still feel hot and uncomfortable. In order to avoid this, the designer has designed a ‘songkok’ that is equipped with a small fan to provide a good ventilation system to the ‘songkok’. After surveys have been done, it is found that there is no invented product in the market similar to this yet. Therefore, initiative has been taken to invent it and hopefully it will give benefits and can be commercialized soon. The system comprises a small fan, a mini switch, 4 AAA size batteries and socket that attached to a normal two or four holes ‘songkok’.
OBJECTIVES
1.  To design a comfortable ‘songkok’ equipped with mini fan for ventilation system.
2.  To solve problem of humidity and hot area inside ‘songkok’.
3.  To develop a functioning end product that has high potential for commercialization
NOVELTY
This product uses only 4 AAA Size batteries which can be found easily in the market. The new attached system is light and users will not feel the difference in weight. By using this product, users will feel more comfortable to wear ‘songkok’ for a long period. After surveys have been done, it is found that there is no invented product in the market similar to this yet. Therefore, initiative has been taken to invent it and hopefully it will give benefits and can be commercialized soon.

INTRODUCTION
Automotive industry is changing everyday. Billions of dollars are invested in research and development for building safer, cheaper and better performing vehicles. One such investment is the x-by-wire topics which have been introduced to improve the existing mechanical systems on automobiles. The term of x-by-wire means that the mechanical systems in the vehicles are replaced with electromechanical systems that are able to do the same task in a faster, more reliable and accurate way than the pure mechanical systems. The work in this research project is part of the continuous efforts in the development of brake-by-wire system in automobiles.
ADVANTAGES & POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS
The main contribution of this research work is the development of a new magnetorheological brake system prototype for automotive application. The prototype is a pure electronically controlled actuator and as a result, it has the potential to further reduce the braking time and stopping distance, as well as easier integration with the existing and new advanced control features in automobiles such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), vehicle stability control (VSC), electronic parking brake (EPB), etc. This type of braking system has the following advantages: faster response, easy implementation of a new controller or existing controllers (e.g. ABS, VSC, EPB, etc.), less maintenance requirements since there is no material wear and lighter overall weight since it does not require the auxiliary components used in conventional hydraulic brakes.

10.   SHIN GUARD FROM COCONUT ENDORCARP

ABSTRACT
The main typical shin guard components are the shell and foam liner. Back to basic, the use of foam at the guard is to absorb outer energy while the shell is to resist any force such as impact from hurting the user. Nowadays however, the manufacturing of the product needs raw material that meet the specification such as stiff, safe to use, and easy to fabricate. In this project, thermoset; epoxy resin with hardener is used as matrix with Coconut Endorcarps Powder (CE-P) as it additive and thermoplastic; polycarbonates as matrix with Coconut Endorcarps Ashes (CE-A) is used to be studied so that a final product based on this material can be fabricated. Full scale prototype was fabricated based on the matrix evaluation technique due to the different PMC. As for this, prototype built was based on thermoset with CE-P. From the test have been done, (for selected thermoset with CE-P), reading show as 77.67 and 77.83 value for hardness, 0.19731
kN average break force and 1.77 Joule to resist before failure. As to compare with thermoplastic with CE-A, the reading is much ambiguous as follow 77.33 and 79.33 for hardness value, 0.05506 kN average break force for bending test and 0.06 Joule to resist before failure. With respect to research have been done, It founds that this PMC was not much adequate to withstand a substantial blow to the leg from non-ballistic weapons or flying debris. This is based on the comparative table gained from standard from European Parliament.
